A Restful Retreat…Master Bedroom Updates

A master bedroom should be calming, relaxing and have some elements of zen. It should have colors and accents that make you feel happy. When getting a home ready for sale, the master is one of the rooms that needs a lot of TLC.

Minimal and Basic

Minimal and simple furniture is key. Remove personal items such as family photos, family keepsakes, laundry baskets, unnecessary furniture, etc. In order for a buyer to imagine themselves in the space, you must help them envision their things in your home.

Paint

Grace the room with a brand new color. This is an inexpensive update but can make a HUGE impact on the look and feel of the room. Keep to neutral and calming colors. I know we all have our favorite wall colors but try colors that will compliment all furniture colors.

Switch Out Furniture

Try moving a living room accent chair to your bedroom to create a reading nook or try one of your living room end tables as a nightstand. You may be surprised with the difference it can make. Another idea is to rummage through your local thrift store for a bench or accent chair. Reupholstering with a luxurious fabric can add texture and pops of color to instantly update the room. Remember, furniture should complement one another, not necessarily match.

Layer Your Nightstand

Start by updating your nightstand lamp and adding layers for height and dimension. Books, fresh flowers, interesting objects such as colorful vases, interesting figurines, or small decorative box are best.

Until next time...Happy Decorating!
